Embedded Interoperable Intelligent Manufacturing at Loughborough University: Concepts and Knowledge towards Deployable Digital Clones – Andrew West & Finley Rudin, Loughborough University
Abstract: The evolving concepts and knowledge behind the digitalisation journey through 30 years of manufacturing research at Loughborough University is the subject of this lecture. The pathway from digital models through digital shadows towards digital twins is discussed in the context of example prototype systems deployed within the automotive manufacturing domain. Successful deployments of Industry 4.0 (and Industry 5.0) concepts will require new skills, tools and system services that require step changes in sensor deployments, novel analytics and science / engineering knowledge focused modelling that are exact, understandable representations of real factories, real operations and real human involvement. We need next generation digital clones. ...
