Becoming a Fellow

Fellowship within the Institute is awarded to individuals who exemplify the very best of Systems Engineering. It recognises those who have:

• Demonstrated sustained excellence in Systems Engineering practice, leadership, or innovation
• Operated at a level of professional mastery beyond Chartered Engineer, shaping complex programmes, organisations, or national initiatives
• Contributed meaningfully to the advancement of the profession, whether through thought leadership, mentoring, governance, or community building
• Shown a deep commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and stewardship of systems engineering standards

Fellows are ambassadors for the Institute. They are role models for members, advisors to our strategic partners, and contributors to the evolution of Systems Engineering as a recognised, respected profession. Their influence extends beyond their own organisations, they help shape how Systems Engineering is understood, applied, and valued across society.

The application process assesses how you demonstrate leadership and influence, professional achievement, commitment to Systems Engineering practice, and alignment with IfSE’s values, principles, beliefs and ethics.
