IfSE Journal – Practical Systems Engineering
We are excited to introduce a brand-new publication from the Institute for Systems Engineering (IfSE): the Practical Systems Engineering Journal. The first issue will launch Autumn 2025, with the theme: Agile in Systems Engineering.
Issue 2 Call for Abstracts
We are now accepting submissions for Issue 2, with the theme ‘Model-Based Systems Engineering’; we invite you to submit a 600-word abstract for the opportunity to be published. Priority will be given to submissions that align closely with the issue theme.
Please submit your abstract to the IfSE editorial team (publications@ifse.org.uk). The deadline for submission is 29 September 2025.
Journal Format
Each annual edition contains six papers, up to 30 pages in length, including references. All submissions must adhere to the defined template which will be sent to authors after submission of their abstracts.
All papers will go through the IfSE formal review process which is overseen by an editorial team. This is a double-blind review process, involving three expert reviewers per paper.
Although there is a theme for each issue, contributions are welcome on any Systems Engineering topic. However, priority will be given to themed submissions.
Each edition will be themed and have a Guest Editor, and the journal will encourage submissions based on, but not limited to:
- New applications of Systems Engineering
- Systems Engineering research
- Case studies
- Lessons learned from applying Systems Engineering
In line with our commitment to furthering Diversity and Inclusion, the journal will use our new accessible format.
